Oh my goodness, Joshua--you and the quintet under your direction knocked my socks off! This is a piece I have not heard you play before, but at first when I tried to write the review, the date 1970 kept coming up. My guess is now that that is the last time someone played this piece at the festival. I am very impressed with this performance. Everyone did not know the piece and so you used sheet music, and that meant you had to sit in a chair, when you could keep yourself in it. What a workout the first and fourth movement gave you! You really attacked the first movement--very martial, allegro tempo. The second movement is also martial, but lento. In one place the music sounds like multitudes screaming. Is this piece a product of WWII? The third adagio movement is beautiful but mournful, and the fourth, which must be vivace, does get you out of your chair repeatedly. I'm glad you left the stage to a standing ovation and with a BIG smile on your face. And then to repeat the fourth movement as an encore was very special and finally did cause your bow to begin to fray. I'm glad I got to drop in via www.medici.tv. I'll check out your concert of the 26th later. Thanks so much for your work and praise God for your talent, Josh.

Looking forward to listening on www.medici.tv.
