Hi Joshua. Thanks for taking some time to answer our questions. Mine have nothing to do with music... almost. If you answer one of these I will be very happy. One of my biggest dreams is interviewing you. The problem is I’m not an interviewer and I don’t work for any magazine, paper or related so this is my chance. *laughing*

* I know you like video games. What's your favourite video-game? What kind of video games do you like? (RPG, adventure, horror...)

* Have you ever thought about playing some original music for a video game? Like the Final Fantasy saga which has wonderful music. (I would be in heaven!)

* Did you enjoy going to school? What was your favourite subject? (Apart from music)

* Situation: You are driving your car in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere and, suddenly, there's an alien in front of you. He wants you to give him some data about our world for his people. Please, tell us: 3 books, 3 movies, 3 music composers and 3 places around the world you would recommend him. Why?

* Situation: You are touring around an exotic country, go into a mysterious shop and, at the back, you see a very strange item. You go closer and find out it is Aladdin’s magic lamp. You rub the lamp and the genie appears but he tells you he has no more happiness, health and money in stock. What three things would you ask him for?

* If you weren’t a musician (and that includes you had no idea about music), what would you do?

* How do you imagine your life in 25 years’ time?

* Is there any thing you really want but you find it very difficult to have?

* Please, don’t be shy and tell us, from your point of view, why do you think women find you so attractive?

* The world is changing. Everything is getting more difficult especially for young people. Most of them have no hope in the future. You have a son now, what do you feel when you turn on the TV and see the news? War, global warming, drugs…

* Could you describe these people with one word? Barack Obama / Michael Jackson / John Lennon / Roger Federer / Michael Jordan / Madonna / Paul Newman / Joshua Bell

* What kind of music do you like (apart from the style you are in)? Could you name some bands or soloists?

I have a lot of silly things to ask but I think it’s enough for now. *yes*

Dear Joshua,

First off, THANK YOU! You are an amazing inspiration- I can't even begin to express what a gift you are to all of us. I attended your Brahms concert with the Toronto Symphony in September and absolutely savoured every minute of it. Your music making was as gorgeous as always.

One question. What do you think of when you're playing music? For example, in the Brahms Violin Concerto, would you be thinking of each note and how to make that sound most beautiful? Or would you picture a desirable and fitting imagery in your mind and focus more on capturing/illustrating it? Or is there something else you concentrate on?

I have heard that you were a nationally ranked tennis champion, also quite successful at video games. I was wondering how you decided to pursue the violin rather than any of the other fields you excelled at?
