This year Tanglewood celebrates its 75th anniversary while Joshua and Edgar Meyer are celebrating the second commission Edgar has written for Joshua. The Edgar Meyer Double Concerto made its debut performed by Joshua and Edgar, conductor Michael Stern and the Boston Symphony Orchestra with additional performances set for Aspen and The Hollywood Bowl.

Recently it was announced that Joshua will be the featured soloist for the debut performances by the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). The major new initiative will, beginning in summer 2013, bring together the most talented young orchestral players, ages 16–19, from across the United States.

Joshua’s 1713 Huberman violin is featured in a recently published four volume book set covering 148 Stradivari instruments. What’s unusual about this collection is that the instruments are depicted in exceptional life-size photographs – when folded out, some cellos reach a length of 96 cm. The Stradivari books are edited by violin dealer and publisher Jost Thoene and photographer Jan Roehrmann.

Joshua recently made his first appearance with the Kansas City Symphony at the stunning new Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts in Kansas City for which all three nights were sold out. Joshua performed the Brahms concerto. The 1,600-seat Hall is the new home for the Symphony conducted by Joshua’s long-time friend Michael Stern.

Joshua and Jeremy Denk have just received an ECHO Klassik Award for Best Chamber Music Recording of the Year (19th Century) for French Impressions. This is Germany’s biggest classical music award and the televised ceremony will take place October 14 in Berlin.

Before returning to the U.S., Joshua rejoined the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in studio to record Beethoven Symphonies 4 and 7. This is the first recording made under Joshua's new role as music director for the orchestra and it will be followed by additional recordings of all of the Beethoven symphonies.
