Joshua Bell Honored at Seton Hall University

At its annual Evening of Roses benefit on April 18, Seton Hall University's Sister Rose Thering Endowment for Jewish Christian Studies will formally announce its newly-endowed Dr. Marcia Robbins-Wilf Lecture Series.

In recognition of this milestone, Joshua Bell will be honored as the University's 2010 Humanitarian of the Year, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), South Orange, New Jersey. In the past, Seton Hall has honored Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, actor/singer Theodore Bikel and Holocaust childrens’ savior Irena Sendler.

Joshua will be acknowledged for his special relationship with Israel and the Jewish world, most notably for two recent concert performances in Poland - one at the dedication of a memorial for Jewish victims of the Holocaust in the city of Czestochowa, and the other at a benefit for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, being built at the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto.

Joshua will perform a few works at the benefit, accompanied by Sam Haywood. The Evening of Roses will also feature Metropolitan Opera bass Kevin Maynor. For tickets and information, contact marilyn.zirl@shu.edu, or call 973-761-9006.
