Wonderful performance and entrancing programming. Violin so warm and sweet; not a lot of "bite", which I enjoyed hugely given the programming.
I am embarrassed that the local organizers in Edmonton charged such a very high price, failed to promote it effectively and failed to provide program notes. Our family saved for several months to bring our teenagers and I know many who simply could not afford to come, especially if they wnated to bring the famiy. Shame! I suppose that's what happens when the economy is this hot: all the competent people can charge more than an arts organization can afford, leaving important tasks to thoughtless bumpkins. While Bell graciously acknowledged the devotion of the people who came, it was disappointing to see empty seats considering what a terrific performance it was.
Loved Denk. Truly glorious playing. What a great collaboration! This performance is still playing in my head and I am off to purchase CDs (as soon as I pay off the tickets!).
