I'm a fan (and you should be too) for three reasons: 1) I think Joshua is a very decent fellow, unspoiled by his international success. He is soft-spoken, polite and supports some charitable causes that also resonate with me (see the "personal" section of this website). He also wants to teach and to pass along to others the lessons he learned from his teachers.
2) Joshua is extremely generous and patient with his fans. He sits through hours of autograph sessions in any given month and has a smile and handshake for everyone. He also happily poses for photos with his fans. Furthermore, he publishes his e-mail address and reads it all. He listens to his fans and sometimes even adopts their suggestions.
3) Finally, of course, he has stupendous talent with the violin. He has eclectic taste, as do I, and has recorded many types of music over the past twenty years. He can play Polish folk music as well as he plays bluegrass, as well as he plays traditional concertos and sonatas. Joshua's music has filled many, many long hours for me that otherwise would be quite lonely. He plays with passion and finesse. It is especially moving to see him in person, which I did last May and will do again in November and next March. It's an unforgettable experience.
